SUMMER 2011: CHANEL OPENS TWO EPHEMERAL BOUTIQUES IN SOUTH OF FRANCE

The first ephemeral boutique will be opening in the space next to the existing Chanel boutique in Cannes on May 7th. Inspired by the jewellery of the Spring/Summer 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection, the boutique is decorated in the signature colours of black and gold featuring units tiled with golden mosaics.

The makeup bar shows off the latest Lumières Byzantines eye shadow palette, created by Pete Philips for the Paris-Byzance collection, while the nail bar displays a palette of summery tones and the handbag bar showcases a shining selection of gold and glitter…

Karl Lagerfeld’s new dolls will be subtly nestled amongst the décor, reinterpreting the collection with her elegant black velvet suit, gemstone braiding and thigh-high crimson boots. Amongst pieces from Chanel’s current 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection the boutique will provide a sneak preview of pieces from the Paris-Byzance collection, a selection of belted Erès swimwear adorned with Chanel jewellery, and limited edition camellias by Lemarié in bronze and muted gold lambskin.

There will be a glamorous exhibtion of gowns and suits on loan from the Chanel Consevratory, famously worn by renowned fans of the House, such as Keira Knightley, Michelle Williams, Penelope Cruz and Michelle Mercier.

Meanwhile, a lucky few will gain an impressive view of the red carpet leading up to the Palais des Festivals from a small private lounge on the 1st floor of the boutique, decorated with smart black mosaic flooring, stunning sequin-embroidered rugs and design furniture by Mies van der Rohe.

From May 7th to May 22nd 2011, 10am to 7pm

The next ephemeral boutique to be arriving in France will be in the stunning Hôtel La Mistralée in Saint-Tropez, a traditional 19th Century manor house with 10 stylised rooms complete with private garden, pool and glass-canopy sundeck, the perfect retail therapy location for summer…

Minimalistic glass displays and graphic design concepts contrast and emphasise the beautiful architecture of the location. The smallest parlour houses a selection of fragrances, eyewear and other precious accessories while the larger drawing room showcases the captivating Paris-Byzance collection. The modern black metal framed glass canopy covers a display of opulent knitwear, accessories and shoes. Finally, the all black pool house features the main range of Chanel Summer 2011 clothing from dressing gowns and baseball caps to sunhats and beach towels, along with exclusive Chanel printed surfboards and a lavish corquet set to truly set the scene of Summer.

Chanel also created a limited edition tote bag exclusively for this ephemeral boutique in Saint-Tropez. The limited edition handbag comes in quilted taupe hessian with a braided leather and silver metal strap.
