3-D DENIM: G-STAR RAW S/S '12 AT MBFW BERLIN

During last weeks Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin, G-Star Raw presented their Spring/Summer 2012 collection based on the principles of “3D denim” and unexpected combinations…

Dramatised hand-crafted pieces direct from G-Star’s denim atelier were combined in the collection with ‘moulded’ denims, formed by having stretched the material on special mannequins before being steamed and baked to permanently transform the flat piece into a specific 3D form, creating authentic products with a modern silhouette, true to the G-Star Raw philosophy.

The high-energy runway display was carried out within an array of raw denim colour tones – ranging from dark indigo pieces through to shades of chambray blue, whilst seeing accents in desert tones and a few insights of bright colour.

Naval inspirations flow throughout the collection of both mens and womenswear, with additional looks showing distinct reference to desert and army inspiration, as well as a wide range of hats, from sturdy caps to the more elegant trilby. The womenswear combined tough and functional looks with super-feminine influences such as an extreme long flared denim skirt or a more sophisticated deep denim pencil skirt.
