DANIEL DINIS AT MODALISBOA S/S 2012

The Summer 2012 “Portugal VS.” collection by Daniel Dinis at this season’s ModaLisboa once again brought us one step closer to that backstage “men’s locker-room” experience that Dinis is now so renowned for, bringing the model’s clothing racks onto centre stage of the runway to see men openly transformed from their bare essentials – black or pink DD pants with sandals – into soft and sophisticated combinations of flannel cotton shirts, panelled wide-leg trousers, recycled denim cut-offs and 80’s style viscose shorts in a variety of cream, grey, hot pink and mosaic blue designs.

The “Portugal VS” collection takes us on a journey directly inspired by the 1968 diaries of Lothar Siegesmund (‘Reisen in Nord Portugal’) catching a train from the city of Porto through Guimarães and ending in Braga. In this way the collection truly captures the spirit of the Portuguese gentleman with simple, neat and summery pieces conveying a bold assortment of colour, comfort, style and masculinity…
