PETE DOHERTY & THE KOOPLES

For Spring/Summer 2012, The Kooples presents a brand new capsule collection with none other than image-loving rock star Pete Doherty. Combining the dark elegance and neat cuts of Parisian style from The Kooples with the casual romance attitude of Monsieur Doherty, the collection perfectly embodies his sound, image, decision and obsession to detail.

With hints of mod revival, Byronic heroes and 70’s Suedehead subculture, Doherty, under invitation of The Kooples, provides an elegant mixing of genres which can easily be transformed from on-screen to on-the-streets in an act of true sartorial rebellion, conjuring images of Doherty himself in his film début of Alfred de Musset’s ‘Les Confessions d’un Enfant du Siecle’ (Confessions of a Child of the Century).

Flannel jackets and slightly ruffled shirts hark at Victorian London style whilst intricate knitwear and Doherty’s own personal artwork, printed onto limited edition shirts, adds personality and strength to the collection. The well-tailored menswear pieces portray the smart, British gentleman hiding away behind Doherty’s rock’n’roll reputation, whilst straps and cycling jerseys inspired by the Tour de France give a classic yet sporty edge. The 8 feminine pieces in the collection include hotpants, blazers and dresses hinting at late 1960’s fashion yet still incorporating the artisan appeal that surrounds the whole collection so subtly.

Two unique hats were also created in partnership with 17th Century London milliner, Lock & Co., drawing the collection to a close with the elegance and Anglo-Parisian character with which it all began.
