CONVERSE & MARIMEKKO FOR S/S 2011
CONVERSE presents a new collection in collaboration for the first time with Finnish cult design label MARIMEKKO. Made especially for women, these pieces combine the most popular Converse silhouettes with signature prints.
The collection uses a selection of classic Marimekko prints, adopting the unique bold and vibrant style. They are available in the silhouette designs of Chuck Taylor All Star High and Ox or Jack Purcell Helen, and also in the newest silhouette, the Chuck Taylor All Star PJ.
Chuck Taylor All Star High & Ox: The classic Chuck Taylor All Star are a wash of color thanks to three Marimekko prints. The print Kirppu, which shows a pattern of triangles in black and white, is used in two silhouettes of Chuck Taylor All Star, High and Ox. On the styles of Chuck Taylor All Star Ox you can have the standard Tarhe print, offering a vibrant colour orange or purple with blue/brown on the sides of the shoe, and it also includes the iconic black and white print with a circular pattern on the tongue of the shoe. The print Pikkusuomu also appears on one version of the Chuck Taylor All Star High .
The silhouette Jack Purcell Helen was rescued from the archives and brought back to 2011. Named after the wife of Jack Purcell, Helen, it is a template design in Jack Purcell’s line and was reissued again and again! Available only to women, these shoes provide the Jack Purcell silhouette with a feminine touch, along with the characteristic Purcell smile around the laces. The Helen tennis shoes are also available in printed red Kirppu.
Chuck Taylor All Star PJ is the new silhouette for spring 2011 and it makes its debut with these Marimekko prints. The shoes are made from the original Chuck Taylor “DNA” and decorated to assign a truly feminine touch. The PJs have a slim design with a thinner midsole and are extremely comfortable for day-to-day wear. With the strengthening support around the foot, the PJ shoes combine comfort with a sleek silhouette. These PJ shoes are available in purple and orange Tarhand print or black and white Kirppu.
