MODALISBOA DAY 4: BACKSTAGE RICARDO DOURADO A/W 11

This primarily black collection included splashes of colour from the brightly painted fingers of models and hints of bright orange garments worn under layers of decorative dark material. The ‘cut-out’ patterning on the chest or around necklines suggested some tribal influence while long flowing lengths of chiffon and loose panels of black satin gave a Gothic or even ghostly feel to the collection.

Details included striped chiffon and quilted ridges or ‘frills’ on satin and neoprene pieces along with oversized silk sleeves or floor length trains extending from dresses and shirts, bringing movement and fluidity to the catwalk. Head makeup artist of ModaLisboa, Antonia Rosa, created the black vinyl eyebrows and finger painting techniques which added extra depth and character to each of the looks.
