Glazed

A glazed gaze, sharp silhouettes, glass, skin and light collide in GLAZED — a study in texture, geometry and form. Set against the raw lines of a former school building in Vienna, with its postwar-modernist architecture and Brutalist influences, the editorial puts Austrian fashion design in focus, pairing established labels with a new generation of rising talent.

Austrian photographer and filmmaker Michael Dürr brings his distinctive eye to the story, taking us into an architectural space with history and a world of glossy surfaces and smooth materials. At the centre is model Lisa B., whose glassy gaze and striking features sharpen the mood, while Michael’s words lead us through the editorial.
The inspiration behind almost every one of my film or photography projects comes from four elements: Light, People, Fashion and Architecture.
Michael Dürr

The casting for my fashion story GLAZED was carried out in collaboration with makeup and hair artist Christine Sutterlüty. From the moment we met model Lisa B. from Addicted to Models, we were both captivated by her face, physique and aura. Whether I’m photographing a model, actor or artist, I need a face and a presence that tells a story.
Michael Dürr

Working with stylist Amiin Noor was also a first—and an inspiring one. From the outset, we wanted to place the focus on Austrian fashion labels with an international outlook. It was important to us to create a dialogue between established designers and brands and a new generation of rising talents, including students from the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Michael Dürr

These architectural qualities were intended to resonate with the clothing itself and be reflected in the designers’ collections featured throughout the story.
Michael Dürr

Whether the title GLAZED refers to our protagonist’s glassy gaze, the extensive use of glass in the architecture, or to the praise and hype surrounding fashion and labels, is left entirely open to interpretation.
