TATO TATTOO: MAURIZIO GALANTE FOR CERRUTI BALERI

Italian design company cerruti baleri presents  Zoot Magazine two interior design products
by Maurizio Galante.

Founded in 1984 in Italy, the Baleri Italia company was well-known for manufacturing high quality pieces of interior design. Baleri’s heritage and its collaborations with different talented designers acquired new strength after Nino Cerruti acquired the company, bringing textile and fabric know-how into the company. Cerruti Baleri (www.cerrutibaleri.com) just launched new versions of the flexible seating or footrest “Tato Tattoo” featuring artworks by Maurizio Galante. Made in CFC-free flexible polyurethane, the seating and footrest come in the shape of an egg (“tato”, based on Denis Santachiara’s design) or a sphere (“tatino”, based on Enrico Baleri and Denis Santachiara’s design) with internal anatomical rigid structure and plastic base. Digital images in bright colours are printed on the bi-elastic technical-fabric cover that, once stretched over the seating or footrest, shows three-dimensional images of an hippopotamus skull, a white bunny, a tiger skull, two cats, a koi or a tiger cub (for “tato”), a cactus and an orang-utan skull (for “tatino”). Cerruti Baleri previously worked with different designers such as Jeff Miller, Arik Levy, Alberto Colzani and Xavier Lust and fashion design companies such as Maison Martin Margiela. The collaboration with Maurizio Galante started in 2008 with the “Galanterie” project, part of the company’s “Edizioni” line. The latter also included projects with Ilse Crawford. “The ‘Edizioni’ line is based on the company’s main principles, that is craftsmanship and high quality standards,” Federico Carandini, cerruti baleri Art Director, states, “but it differs from our main ‘Collezioni’ line for the fact that it borrows its vision and strong aesthetic values from the world of fashion design.”
