35TH ANNECY INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL

Running until the 11th June 2011, the latest Animation Film Festival in France has launched with a colourful and creative start, set to feature over 500 films, exhibitions and conferences.

The Opening Ceremony took place last night, 6th June, including exclusive screenings of studio short films by the leading animation teams at both Pixar and Disney. The Festival will continue with open-air public screenings each evening on the aptly named “Giant Screen”, a variety of Between Frames presentations providing behind the scenes and “making of” features, numerous free exhibitions covering many topics ranging from animation to production, graphics and artistic direction, as well as the presentation of 18 special awards, such as the Cristal for short films and the Cristal for feature films.

With three main locations around Annecy, the Festival has enough variety and contrast to satisfy all ages and creative tastes. The final selection of films includes 42 short films, 10 feature films, 59 graduation films and 71 TV and commissioned films including TV series’ and specials, educational and advertising films and music videos. And not to forget the 35 short films and 6 feature films being presented out of competition.

The MIFA section of the Festival from the International Animation Film Market will run from 8-10 June with a selection of presentation stands and a special chill-out area, aiming to create synergy between professionals and helping to launch new projects in animation, TV, movie, internet and video.

The Creative Focus presentation is taking place between 7 and 10 June to include recruitment sessions, project presenetaiomns, master classes and conferences, offering a benficial experience for all involved.
