Exquisite contradictions

EXTINCT & RESURGENT: a unique Ukrainian fashion project

Artful and ethical designers DZHUS, Lada Legina and House Martin recently collaborated on an exquisitely haunting fashion story: Extinct & Resurgent. The result is a gorgeous collection of images that present contradictions—they are both alien and firmly of this world; prescient, while harkening back to a lost time—all set against the backdrop of a moody Kharkiv State Natural History Museum, wrapped in shadows.

The special fashion story, consisting of a photo series and a short film, was created by a team of Ukrainian artists in the space of Kharkiv State Natural History Museum, involving DZHUS ethical transformer outfits, Lada Legina 3D-printed jewellery and House Martin cruelty-free footwear. It is an allegoric story about extermination and resurrection, monsters of the past versus spirit of the future, and armoured heroines, wandering through haunted corridors of time. They rise on horrific remains of their land’s bygone usurpers, disoriented but survived, desperate yet illuminated with hope.

DZHUS is an internationally recognized conceptual clothing and accessories brand founded by Ukrainian designer and stylist Irina Dzhus. All designs are ethically manufactured using cruelty-free materials.

Lada Legina is an up-and-coming 3D designer from L.A. Her jewellery and wearable art pieces blend traditional techniques with cutting-edge technology and can be found in shops and magazines around the world.

House Martin is a Kyiv-based, cruelty-free footwear brand. Their shoes are streamlined and fashion-forward, featuring Italian materials and orthopaedic construction.
