Backstage at CALL ME GORGEOUS FW23 at ModaLisboa Core

An explosion of colors

Joyfully gliding and spinning down the runway in her famous roller skates and Britney Spears-inspired blonde wig, street artist Eubrite set the tone for the Call Me Gorgeous FW23 collection. Following his past SS23 runway show that featured contemporary dancers taking over the catwalk to showcase his rhinestone-embellished jewelry, once again founder and creative director Luis Borges delivered an exciting show that even featured a performance
by the Portuguese singer and rapper Nenny.

While the past collection had a sexy and attitude-filled approach, with the pieces shining over glistening naked torsos and black latex looks, this time Luis Borges brought his designs to streetwear. From chunky pearl necklaces to long drop earrings, each piece made a statement on its own while also enhancing the more casual denim trousers with white, blue and warm-tone tops.

Titled Big Bang, this collection was inspired by the concept of an expansive universe, detached from earthly limitations: according to the brand, “the definitive creation of a transparent time where the sky explodes with color”. With the cosmos as its starting point, the collection featured big colored crystals and oversized round pearls resembling the shape of planets. The brand’s signature “B” cropped up in a transparent material embellished with Swarovski crystals that were intertwined as if forming large link chains.

Featuring oversized earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets, Call Me Gorgeous’s FW23 collection brought statement accessories to complement any look—from streetwear to cocktail parties. Modeled by a diverse casting, the versatile gender-less designs were, like all Call Me Gorgeous collections, “made for all people, regardless of age, body type, ethnicity, personal history or lifestyle choice”, embodying the brand’s manifesto that “everyone has the right to feel beautiful”.
