With the the extravaganca of burlesque, brushed feathers in the hair, extra long nails in stiletto shape and floating silks, Carlos Gil created bold and daring styles for the self-assured, alluring, and expressive woman.
The seductive ambiance of the runway acted as a trigger for imagination, evoking notions of fetishism, sparking curiosity, and empowering the contemporary woman. Carlos guided us through a temporal voyage from the 1920s to the 1940s, a time when women ardently pursued liberation and self-expression.
To honor the brand’s 25th anniversary, the collection embraces a playful tone, celebrating a journey defined by capturing their audience and establishing a distinctive DNA.The dedication to environmental consciousness is reflected by a commitment to eco-friendly principles.
As a novelty this season Carlos Gil introduced denim collection for men, a sporty yet refined look including denim blazers with a tailored silhouette emerging as standout items.
“Believe it” is Carlos Gil´s vibrant celebration of 25 years of creativity, innovation, and a commitment to authenticity. ZOOT spoke to Carlos backstage after the show about his inspiration, the artistic influences and his menswear pieces.
ZOOT: Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your SS24 collection titled “Believe it”?
Carlos Gil: Of course! “Believe it” draws inspiration from the exuberance of London’s burlesque nights. I wanted to immerse myself in the glamour of fringes, feathers, sparkling stones, and abundant shine to create bespoke silhouettes that celebrate and accentuate the sensuality and charm of feminine beauty.
ZOOT: How does the extravagance of burlesque influence your collection?
Carlos Gil: The extravagance of burlesque, with its elements like feathers and shine, serves as a bold pattern for confident, seductive, and expressive women. It’s a catalyst for imagination, awakening fetishes, sparking curiosity, and inspiring the modern woman. I’ve taken a temporal journey back to the 1920s to the 1940s, a period when women sought intensely to shine and be free.
ZOOT: Can you describe the key elements of your collection?
Carlos Gil: The color palettes in this collection range from classic black and white to vibrant hues like red, turquoise, and royal blue, with accents of yellow. Each piece is a masterpiece, crafted from fine fabrics such as silk, Moroccan textiles, and even recycled polyester. These choices reflect not only style but also our commitment to the environment.
ZOOT: This year is your brand’s 25th anniversary. How does this collection commemorate that milestone?
Carlos Gil: To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we took a playful approach in this collection. It’s a way to commemorate a journey marked by conquering our desired audience and the creation of our unique brand DNA. The commitment to the environment is evident, aligning with our eco-friendly mindset.
ZOOT: You introduced a denim collection for men in this season. What can you tell us about that?
Carlos Gil: Yes, this season marks a new development as we’ve introduced a denim collection for men. It’s an innovative proposal for men seeking a sporty yet elegant presentation. Key pieces include denim blazers with a tailor’s cut, encapsulating the modern and distinctive essence of our brand.
ZOOT: How would you describe the essence of your SS24 collection?
Carlos Gil: This collection goes beyond fashion; it’s a vibrant celebration of 25 years of creativity, innovation, and a commitment to authenticity. It’s not just an expression of style but an artistic narrative that pays tribute to the sensuality and charm of feminine beauty and the journey of women from the 1920s to the 1940s.
